圣-桑曾于1886年，先后到布拉格与维也纳进行旅行演奏，途中在奥地利休息了几天。就在这些日子里，他应巴黎好友的请求，写作了一部别出心裁、谐趣横生的管弦乐组曲《动物狂欢节》。在《动物狂欢节》中，作者以生动的手法，描写动物们在热闹的节日行列中，各种滑稽有趣的情形，整部组曲由十四曲组成。

本份乐谱为非完整版，是其中5个章节的2小号独奏谱：
